Garden: May 15

With our newly built tunnel greenhouse for the tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans. And can I add that, right now, only ten days later, those peas on the left side are at least 8 inches taller than their trellis.

Lucky! We haven’t even gotten around to planting veggies or flowers. But what with the SNOW we had falling yesterday I guess it’s kind of a good thing.

your peas are way bigger than mine. and very beautiful…….oh, wait maybe because in the six weeks since i planted my peas winter returned with a vengeance.

    our lettuce is the same.

garden lettuce is maybe the most satisfying thing to grow. (also, arugula and spinach)

yes, lettuce is the most awesome vegetable. it withstands everything. there aren’t even any bugs that like it the way they do my swiss chard and spinach. after a few nights below freezing since i planted it, i t awoke unscathed and robust.

this ode to lettuce brought to you by spring.
